The Moroccan national football team wrapped up its 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a deserved 1-0 victory over Congo on Tuesday evening, October 14, at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat. Youssef En-Nesyri scored the game’s only goal in the 63rd minute, capping off a dominant performance by the Atlas Lions against a largely uninspired Congolese side.
Although Morocco had already secured qualification, coach Walid Regragui opted to rotate his squad, giving opportunities to several young players while resting key starters. The match served as a valuable test to strengthen team cohesion and maintain a competitive spirit, even in fixtures free from qualification pressure.
With this win, Morocco concludes the qualifiers atop Group E, showcasing disciplined defense and efficient attacking play throughout the campaign. The Atlas Lions reaffirm their status as one of Africa’s leading contenders for the upcoming World Cup, as attention now turns to their next training camps and friendly matches — with fans dreaming of matching or surpassing their historic run in Qatar 2022.
