The United States is reeling after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, a prominent figure in right-wing politics and a close ally of Donald Trump.

Kirk, 31, was fatally shot in the neck while speaking at a college event in Utah. The shooter remains at large, but the killing has triggered widespread outrage and condemnation across the political spectrum.

President Donald Trump described the event as a “dark moment for America,” while political opponents including Bernie Sanders and Vice President Kamala Harris also extended condolences and condemned the violence.

Kirk rose to prominence at just 18 when he founded Turning Point USA, a conservative youth movement aimed at mobilizing students. He later hosted The Charlie Kirk Show and became a central voice on issues like gun rights, abortion, religion, and immigration.

As chairman of Students for Trump, Kirk played a pivotal role in mobilizing young voters during Trump’s campaigns. His assassination has not only shocked the conservative base but also reignited concerns about the rise of political violence in the U.S.
